Looking for festive activities to get in the Christmas mood? Here are some events that are taking place around the county.
Santa Special – Llangollen Railway
All aboard for Santa’s Christmas Specials: Santa makes a special visit each Christmas to the Llangollen Railway. Your decorated steam train will transport you in style from Llangollen Station to Carrog (renamed Lapland for Santa’s visit). Santa will give each good boy and girl a special gift on the journey and the adults on board receive a mince pie and a tipple from Santa’s Little Helpers.

Santa’s Reverse Grotto
Saturday 2nd December 2pm – 4pm
Santa and his elf’s are holding a reverse grotto at the Pengwern Community Centre. This is to help the homeless this winter in the local area.
We kindly ask that we receive a small donations of this list of items: Blankets, Socks, Hat/Gloves, Food/Drink, Hygiene Male & Female, A little note of Christmas wishes.
Every child will receive a gift in return from Santa himself.
Cor Gytgan Clwyd Concert

Festive fun for all ages with some festive crafts set within the beautiful surroundings of the home of the Ladies of Llangollen.
Annual Volunteer Hedge Laying Competition

Rhyl Christmas Pops
Sunday 10th December 5pm – 7pm
Rhyl’s popular festive concert featuring fantastic entertainment such as Heatwave, Midnight Soul Sisters, Informal Soul and local school Ysgol Emmanuel.
Tickets for the event are free, but people interested in joining the celebrations need to reserve their tickets by contacting Rhyl Tourist Information Centre.

Clwydian Santa Run
Sunday 10th December (Registration from 9am, race starts at 11am)
A real family event where even the family pet is welcome to come along and join in the festivities. You can walk, jog or run a 5km route that takes you up to Moel Famau in the Clwydian Range. Participants receive their own Santa suit to wear, a medal and the amazing feeling of joining in such a great event.

North Wales International Concert Series

Welsh Chamber Orchestra: Artistic Director Anthony Hose, soloist Ellis Thomas, piano. The full programme was not confirmed at time of print but will include J.S. Bach’s D minor piano concerto, played by our local rising star who is currently studying music at the RNCM.

Jazz @ Plas Newydd

Back by popular demand, Plas Newydd Hosts it’s second Jazz@Plas Christmas; an evening of sultry jazz standards in the beautiful grounds of one of North Wales most treasured heritage sites performed by local musicians Grace Williams (vocals) Pete Beresford (piano) David Alexander (guitar) and Jamie Brownfield (trumpet). The performance will begin at 1900, but arrive at 1830 for mulled wine and a mince pie (included in the ticket price).

Lessons & Carols by Candlelight
17th December 6pm – 9pm
Join us at St Thomas’s Church – Denbigh for the annual Lessons and Carols Service by Candlelight. This is a beautiful Christmas service where familiar carols are sung and the Christmas story is told, and all by Candlelight.
This service will be followed by a Candlelit Supper in support of Christian Aid.
All are welcome – no dress code – no tickets required; just come as you are and celebrate Christmas with us at St Thomas’s Church.

Roll the Barrel
Tuesday 26th December 10.30am
A Boxing Day tradition in Denbigh. Official start 10.30am at the top of town. The Denbigh and Flint hunt still forms a big part of the proceedings and the crowds watch as dozens of riders parade through the town after receiving the traditional stirrup cup.
