Looking for festive activities to get in the Christmas mood?  Here are some events that are taking place around the county.

 

Santa Special – Llangollen Railway

Throughout December

All aboard for Santa’s Christmas Specials: Santa makes a special visit each Christmas to the Llangollen Railway. Your decorated steam train will transport you in style from Llangollen Station to Carrog (renamed Lapland for Santa’s visit). Santa will give each good boy and girl a special gift on the journey and the adults on board receive a mince pie and a tipple from Santa’s Little Helpers.

Father Christmas at Loggerheads Country Park

Saturday 9th December, Saturday 16th December, Sunday 17th December and Friday 22nd December

11am, 12pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm

Come and meet Santa, hear a Christmas story and have a treat to take home with Plas Derw Trust.

North Wales International Concert Series

Welsh Chamber Orchestra: Artistic Director Anthony Hose, soloist Ellis Thomas, piano. The full programme was not confirmed at time of print but will include J.S. Bach’s D minor piano concerto, played by our local rising star who is currently studying music at the RNCM.

Denbigh and District Round Table Christmas Float

Catch a glimpse of Santa as he tours Denbigh and the surroundings areas.

Weeknights (generally) start at 6:30pm 

Sundays start at 4:30pm

Jazz @ Plas Newydd

17th December 7pm – 9pm

Back by popular demand, Plas Newydd Hosts it’s second Jazz@Plas Christmas; an evening of sultry jazz standards in the beautiful grounds of one of North Wales most treasured heritage sites performed by local musicians Grace Williams (vocals) Pete Beresford (piano) David Alexander (guitar) and Jamie Brownfield (trumpet). The performance will begin at 1900, but arrive at 1830 for mulled wine and a mince pie (included in the ticket price).

Lessons & Carols by Candlelight

17th December 6pm – 9pm

Join us at St Thomas’s Church – Denbigh for the annual Lessons and Carols Service by Candlelight. This is a beautiful Christmas service where familiar carols are sung and the Christmas story is told, and all by Candlelight.

This service will be followed by a Candlelit Supper in support of Christian Aid.

All are welcome – no dress code – no tickets required; just come as you are and celebrate Christmas with us at St Thomas’s Church.

Roll the Barrel

Tuesday 26th December 10.30am

A Boxing Day tradition in Denbigh. Official start 10.30am at the top of town. The Denbigh and Flint hunt still forms a big part of the proceedings and the crowds watch as dozens of riders parade through the town after receiving the traditional stirrup cup.
